Today was supposed to be a special day.
With my oldest off on a PA Day, we’d planned a little road trip for some one-on-one time at a local Lego attraction.
He’d been talking about it for weeks. Constantly discussing which rides he wanted to tackle first and repeatedly requesting confirmation that he was allowed to get one of those snazzy superhero keychains Santa “forgot.”
All set to go, our departure time planned so we could arrive as soon as the doors opened, we climbed into the car and got buckled in, busily discussing what each of us was most excited about for our special day together.
And then just as we were ready to pull out of the garage, there was that unmistakeable “click” of nothingness as I turned the key in the ignition.
