When it comes to parenting battles, there is no sinking ship quite like the struggle to keep things equal between our kids.
Don’t even bother trying!
Our kids aren’t the same people. They need different things at different times. They have different appetites and interests and attention spans and personalities. So why on EARTH would we waste our time and energy (not to mention guilt! Oh the guilt!) killing ourselves trying to keep things “fair?”
The more we keep score, the more they keep score. So before long, all our “equality” seeking has got us is kids with an eagle eye for picking out what they’re NOT getting (instead of being grateful for what they are!) and us with a head of gray hair and an ulcer to match.
In this week’s vid I’ve got some practical tools on how to deal if you find yourself constantly comparing or trying to keep things “fair” between your kids, plus how I answer when my kids ask the question every parent dreads — whether I “love them the same.” 😬
