There is something magical about Labour Day. Every year it’s as if someone flips a switch putting the lights out on summer. No other season seems to come to such an abrupt end. Year after year, without fail, Labour Day = fall.
My husband and I have already done a mini-inventory of the kids’ needs with the cooler weather approaching:
- Bigger rain boots for our toddler
- Snowsuit for our toddler
- Winter boots for our toddler
And the poor little baby – he’s taken care of. I brace myself for the day he realizes that hand-me-downs are kind of sucky.
I started taking an inventory of my own needs for fall and quickly realized I had NO IDEA what I had or didn’t have. Last fall I was in the last 10 weeks of my pregnancy with my youngest. The muumuu/stretch pants phase of pregnancy that every expectant mom loooooves so much.
So it’s been a while.
I started getting excited. Maybe this fall I could actually look like A REAL PERSON!!!
Thoughts of fitted jeans, cozy sweaters and riding boots filled my head. I was dizzy with excitement.
First things first, I needed to go through my closet and see what still fit and was in good enough condition (read: no barf stains) to wear again.
I had a brain wave – I would sort through my entire closet, creating different outfits and then take a picture of each outfit.
You know, kind of like the 50 million amazing posts on Pinterest:

Wait – you haven’t come across that last one?
Oh, that’s because it doesn’t exist.
Just in case you were wondering, it is NEVER a good idea to pull all your clothes out of the closet, sort them into outfits and take pictures of them with a baby and a toddler in the room.
And have I mentioned that the baby barfs? Like, every five minutes?
Yeah. It was a real ball of laughs.
And it was completely my fault.
I don’t have the faintest clue why I thought this would be a good idea. If a stranger came up to me and told me that this was their plan for the afternoon I would give them some serious raised eyebrow.
But regardless of how obviously stupid the idea was, I still did it.
So, if you’ve done something today that *maybe* wasn’t the best idea, you’re in good company. 🙂
