Milestones can be so sneaky sometimes.
Usually we’re ready.
1st tooth, 1st Christmas, 1st steps.
You know the drill.
But then sometimes, when we least expect it, those milestones jump out of nowhere.
Like over the weekend, for example. After a few failed attempts at nap time and multiple scaled crib walls, we dismantled our youngest’s crib. It was a relatively effortless affair — just a screwdriver and an Allen key and we were good to go.
It wasn’t until the next morning that I realized what a shift this represented.
I always loved our last minute hugs as I lowered him into his crib before bed.
And those first hugs of the day, well, if you’re reading this I’m guessing I don’t have to tell you how awesome those are…
But those will be no more.
My little guy can now hop into bed and hop out whenever he likes.
No help needed.
Another “I DO IT ALL BY MYSELF, MOM!” step towards independence.
So while I’m a little bit sad at this milestone catching me by surprise, I’m excited for my guy to be moving on up in the world.
And even if I’m not the one lifting him into and out of his crib anymore, you’d better believe I’m still going to be stealing those hugs. 😉
